Our philosophy
Why we still
light fire.
Fire is more than heat or light.
It’s where we gather, reflect and feel
connected to something timeless.
It’s part of who we are.
Fire was the beginning.
Long before electricity and modern routines, there was fire. It offered warmth, protection and light. It transformed shelter into home, gathered people together and became the centre of rituals repeated for thousands of years.
While the world has changed beyond recognition, our relationship with fire has not. Today it is no longer essential for survival, yet we continue to light it. Not for necessity, but for the atmosphere it creates, the pace it invites and the quiet reminder to slow down.

Why UMBER exists.
Some places have a way of changing perspective. Iceland is one of them. Its volcanic landscapes, towering waterfalls and vast open spaces possess a scale that is difficult to comprehend until standing within them.
Surrounded by raw nature, everyday concerns seem smaller, the pace of life softens and the constant noise of modern living begins to fall away. There is a quietness found in places like these that feels almost like a reset. Not because anything has changed, but because perspective has.
UMBER was created from that idea. Not to recreate Iceland, but to capture a small part of what places like it can remind us of: the value of slowing down, being present and creating spaces that restore a sense of calm.

Why atmosphere matters.
The feeling of a home is shaped by more than what can be seen. Light, scent, texture and ritual all influence the experience of a space and, in turn, the experience of the people within it. These details are often quiet, yet they leave the greatest impression.
Every UMBER candle is created with this belief at its core. Three candles, each crafted to ground the room and shape how you feel within it.
What comes next
Today, that philosophy begins with candles. It will not end there.
Thoughtfully designed objects, made to positively change the atmosphere of a home.
